Acceptance of Minutes
Minutes of the last meeting were accepted as a true record.
Matters Arising from the Minutes
There were no matters arising.
Liturgy
First Communion –George needs the dates of next year’s terms/holidays from Our Lady & St Josephs school before he can finalise the timetable for preparation meetings.
Some concern has been expressed to Diane about children from two school classes being merged into one preparation group. It was suggested that Fr Kieran could explain to the children why this is happening this year.
Mission
Terry would like to promote a mission within the parish & distributed an example of a mission programme for members to consider. The aim would be to rejuvenate the parish Suggestions to further this included involving St. Josephs at Rawmarsh &/or opening it up to the whole Deanery, & perhaps involving the Diocesan Youth Team. The mission may take a whole year from preparation to delivery. It was decided to discuss this more fully with Fr Kieran at the next meeting.
Finance
Diane (Treasurer) reported that Fr Kieran is to supply her with financial information on a monthly basis from now on. Collection counting after mass is to be revived. The Hall & Church accounts are to be kept separate, this will make specific income/expenses easier to identify.
Premises & accessibility
There are many premises issues at present including accessibility, but it was decided to defer this discussion until after the parish meeting about the House which will be held on Sunday 6th July. Also it was thought the issue would be progressed more if Fr Kieran was present.
Summer Fayre
Pete reported on the preparations for the Summer Fayre on Saturday 5th July. There would be approximately twelve stalls, more if the weather is good & events can be held outside.
A.O.B.
The Parish Pastoral Council would formally like to welcome Fr Kieran to the parish, & as a member of the council.
It was suggested that a social quiz night was arranged in the near future when we could welcome Fr Kieran to the parish. Parishioners from St josephs Rawmarsh would also be invited. Pete to progress this.
Diane would welcome news in the bulletin of forthcoming weddings, baptisms & other ‘good news’ occasions. Other members agreed. George to progress this with Fr Kieran.
The recruitment of altar servers will hopefully be re-launched. It was not resolved how this might be done. Possibly through school (OLSJ).
George suggested we need to contribute more to the Deanery newsletter in terms of news etc. In the past we seem only to have contributed mass times & nothing else. George will progress this with Fr Kieran.
Date of next PPC Meeting: Tuesday September 9th 6pm, in the Parish House. Please note change of venue!
